Rhodes Scholarship for Canada Benefits

All university and college fees; the university application fee
a living stipend of £18,180 per annum (£1,515 per month) for 2023-2024 to cover living expenses and accommodation fees
fee required to apply to study at the University of Oxford; student visa fee; fees for associated International Health Surcharge (IHS); one economy class airfare to Oxford at the start of the school year.
Scholars get a settling-in stipend upon arrival in Oxford, and those who transition to a second course of study in Oxford will receive support to cover the expense of visa renewal and additional applications for IHS.

Rhodes Scholarship for Canada Eligibility

All countries are eligible to apply for fully financed Rhodes Scholarships for international students.
Students must have a stellar academic record and have completed their bachelor’s degree by July 2024 to be eligible.
The Rhodes Scholarship qualifying standards vary depending on the applicant’s country of origin.

How to Apply to the Rhodes Scholarship for Canada

The Rhodes scholarship standards vary for every country, and the application process for the 2024 scholarship differs as well.

To begin your application, go to the official website and select your country or region.

Before you begin, it is critical that you thoroughly understand the application instructions and the information available on the official website.

This will provide you with important information and directions to help you complete your application successfully.

Please keep in mind that the Rhodes scholarship is fully funded and open to international students.

Required Documents

You must submit an application form online, along with copies of the documents and information listed below.

All documents must be presented in English or include English translations.

Please keep in mind that if you are invited to an interview, you may be required to bring the following documents with you:

Your birth certificate proves that you are of legal age.
A copy of your valid passport proving that you meet the citizenship requirements Candidates who were born, are currently living, or are attending university outside of Canada will be required to provide proof of Canadian domicile.
A certified transcript from the college or university where you are currently or have previously studied, indicating grades earned (to date). If feasible, mention the number of students and your rank in each year of your course on your transcript.
A written statement endorsing your candidacy for the scholarship from the president or acting president of your college or university All candidates who are currently enrolled at a university must obtain the support of their university’s president or an equivalent official. The endorsement should clarify that you are a current student at the institution and, if possible, provide further information in support of your application.
Please review the university’s English language requirements if English is not your first language.
A detailed curriculum vitae detailing academic qualifications, awards, scholarships, positions of leadership, work positions, involvement in student, volunteer, community, or political organizations, and any cultural, musical, or sporting successes This should not be longer than two A4 (12pt font size) pages.

An academic study statement of no more than 350 words
A personal statement of no more than 750 words is required.
You must offer a list of six people (referees) prepared to give references on your behalf: i. At least three of your referees should be academics who have formally taught and graded you in your undergraduate (or, if applicable, postgraduate) studies and can comment in detail on your academic competence and how well they believe you would perform at Oxford.

Applications are accepted for review by six regional selection committees, which select the eleven scholarships available each year:

Scholarships in the Maritimes
1 Scholarship in Newfoundland and Labrador

Applicants who are currently studying in Canada are eligible to apply in an area based on one of the two requirements listed below:

The region in which you attended a university that has provided or will grant you a degree, with the caveat that applicants who are not habitually located in Newfoundland and Labrador are not eligible to apply in that region.

Given the present state of the COVID-19 epidemic, portions of the application requirements and subsequent selection processes may be modified.

Any changes will be conveyed via email once you have begun an application and our website and this document have been updated.

The region in which you normally reside You may apply in the Prairies Region if you are habitually resident in the Yukon, Northwest Territories, or Nunavut.

Applicants who are currently studying outside of Canada must apply in the region in which they ordinarily reside.
